Announces Pilot Program for 92341 PolicyHolders

 Farmers Insurance Group sent out letters to 92341 zip code policyholders informing them of a free pilot program called FARMERS FIRESAFE.  According to the letter, all Farmers policyholders in the 92341 zip codes will be automatically included, unless they opt out.  The goal of the program is to treat properties within the proximity of an active wildfire with a colorless version of Phos-Chek.  In the event of a wildfire, Firebreak Spray Systems, LLC (www.firebreaksystems.com) will attempt to spray combustible structures and vegetation/landscaping surrounding participant properties to help mitigate any damage, which may potentially be caused by wildfire.  “This may not always be possible,” according to the company.  “So even though you are participating in the Farmers Firesafe Pilot Program we cannot guarantee that one of our service trucks will be able to get to your property in the event of a wild fire.  And, just as firefighters have experienced numerous times, we cannot guarantee that application of the fire retardant will prevent or reduce the damage from wildfire to your property.”

After the danger has passed, Firebreak and Farmers may conduct a fire investigation on the involved properties to learn the effectiveness of this and potentially similar programs in the future.  The application remains until hosed or rained off.  The program is in effect until December 13, 2008, discontinued by Farmers, or the owner no longer is a Farmers policyholder.
