A Community meeting is scheduled for May 23, 6 pm, at the Community Center to hear from several agencies and their programs for making our home sites fire safe. There will be a presentation on the Fire Hazard Abatement program (fire hazards include dry vegetation, dead and dying shrubs and trees, large accumulation of fine needles, and trees too close to chimneys) by the San Bernardino County Land Use Services Code Enforcement. Julie Hernandez, Supervisor, Fire Hazard Abatement, and Thomas Bradt, Inspector, Fire Hazard Abatement, will be present to provide details on the program and to answer questions. The meeting is co-sponsored by the Green Valley Lake Women’s Club, the Green Valley Lake Citizens for Disaster Preparedness, and the Green Valley Chapter of the Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council. Additional agencies will be present to discuss the requirements for maintaining defensible space around homes, the Forest Care program for assistance with maintaining healthy trees on your property, and The Pine Needle Program.
