Roger Lee was one of the 230 Olympians of the
2006 Winter Olympics and Paralympics honored in a ceremony with
President Bush on May 17th at the White House in Washington, D.C.
Below is a message from Roger Lee sent Mar. 17 from
Turin, Italy:
Hi Sandi, The competition is tough here but the Paralympic
experience is phenomenal. Just to be a part of this and to represent
our country is the real experience and the chance of a lifetime. We
have Slalom tomorrow and I count on doing better. I'm trying to fight
off a cold that has been going around and took off today to rest up.
Wish me luck and I'll be racing for all of you in GVL. Roger

Roger Lee -- Hometown Hero
Green Valley Lake gets
to claim Roger Lee as our very own since he grew up here,
learned to ski here, and his parents still live here. He is a hero and
role model for our young people because he had to overcome incredible
adversity after the spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed and in
constant pain.
Roger is the kind of person who never gives up, and in March of
2006, he realized his long-held dream to compete in the Paralympics in
Turin, Italy. On May 17th, he and 230 other Olympians were
honored in a ceremony with President Bush at the White House in
Washington, D.C.
On July 1st, Roger was an honored guest at the Family Fun Day
and Barbecue here in Green Valley Lake.
He
is an inspiration to us all and we are so proud of him! It's
amazing that little bitty Green Valley Lake could produce such a
world-class champion.
